And it certainly applies beyond the artistic life--just last week my library union group wrapped up negotiations for our first contract, and we had to intentionally embrace the maxim "perfect is the enemy of the good" in order to stop focusing on what we didn't get done. An 85% rule totally encapsulates that idea, and I love that it gives us a metric to feel out! Terrific stuff.
