Thanks so much for the mention and all the great details about your process! This past week has been really difficult on multiple levels and this was such a lovely and warm surprise. My daughter and I were both fascinated...and also dying of jealousy seeing that amazing bench spot. Gorgeous! She also found it really interesting how many layers you were working with in the image above. And will be saving up for that amazing Cintiq thing. Thanks to your rough draft tips she's been able to get about 25 pages done (each has 24 frames) for her graphic novel and is feeling much better with her process.
Also, checked out your author news update and congrats on what sounds like an amazing project, but also - phew, that is a very worky summer! And how have I missed seeing bees napping? Thanks so much for all of it. And wishing you lots of light at the end of that tunnel!
Great to read this update, Jennifer! I’m thrilled to hear of your daughter’s progress on her graphic novel project. Yes! One thing I should have mentioned is that I honestly use my iPad far more than the Cintiq — it’s quite a hefty and expensive piece of hardware that might not be super essential, so could be a “save for later on” or wait for the Pro level, maybe?
Thank you so much for the kind well-wishes, and sending them back your way — I hope things ease up on you as soon as possible.
That's actually very helpful - she does have an iPad already and I'm a big fan of not putting the cart before the horse when it comes to tools (especially super expensive ones!). Thanks very much for the clarification! I'm currently in one of those strange altered realities: it turned out my mom had a stroke and I had to run to catch a flight across the country to be with her and now have been staying with her a couple weeks with my daughter here too, helping. I wouldn't say it's easier but it kind of is: it was clear that I needed to drop everything and do this, so there is no more worrying/wondering. And my daughter is spending all her spare time working on her pages. Who knows what is lucky or unlucky? As hard as it is, I'm very grateful for this time with both of them.
Oh WOW Jennifer, what a challenging time. I know what you mean about the straightforwardness about dropping everything for what's needed now. It's still a lot to hold all at once. Sending you, your mom and family much care ❤️🩹
I hope you get some breathing space soon, e, because I can’t wait to read more about what you’ve been jotting down. Thanks for the mention, pal! xoxo 😚❤️💫
