A Solstice Slow-down
In 3 Parts
With the Winter Solstice arriving in the northern hemisphere this weekend, here’s a yearly reminder on setting your work down for a
s l u m b e r . . .
1 ~ Tidy your workspace …
Tuck work projects in their shelves, drawers, & folders. Drape work areas with winter bunting, textiles, candles or string lights.
2 ~ Reflect …
What part of my work is needing the most rest?
What has been nurturing my creativity lately?
What creative progress can I celebrate from the past year? (nothing is too small)
3 ~ Fill the days with …
art books
reading
music
crafting
games
movies
Giving your work the gift of rest will allow healing from some of the stresses of the past year. To regulate & regenerate, so that fresh new energy can awaken when the lighter months return.
Happy Winter Solstice, Happy Yule,
This post is brought to you by A COZY WINTER DAY’s companion gifts, now on Fine Art America:

I always feel deeply resistant of (and, if I'm honest, resentful about) taking a break from my work over the holidays. This is a lovely reminder to plan and take that break in a purposeful way, and I'm going to plan some particular restorative stuff I can do with my family to reinforce it!
Thanks again for the reminder - and I would love to take a break in that adorable treehouse from the first image which looks like its grandmother might have been a cuckoo clock. Beautiful.
Happy holidays!
I'm inspired! Thank you.
